PSP 7.04 Beginner's Tutorials

Unzip the Zip file and place the two folders on your desktop.
Open a new image 700 x 425, transparent.

Now we need to bring the images from the desktop to PSP.
Click on File, Browse and click on Beginners One Images Folder.
Click on the Door.psp image and minimize
ready for use.
Click on the Window.psp image and minimize ready for use.
-> = Click with your mouse.
What it all means.
Set Color: -> Top left color box (Foreground) ->
HTML (lower, right on your Color Palette),
delete the letters and numbers but leave the #, and type in letters and
numbers as supplied during the tutorial -> OK.
Add New Layer: -> Layers -> New Raster Layer -> Backspace -> Type in
FLOOR etc -> OK.

Getting a Selection File from Selection
Folder: -> Selections -> Load from disk -> Floor/
Walls etc., you will see the marching ants.
Deselect: -> Selections -> Select None (marching ants are removed)
Save: -> File -> SaveAs -> Choose Desktop -> Name your room ->
save in .psp format.

Ready.....Let's get started on the room:
1. Background:
Flood fill (paint can) image with #000000 (Black)
The black or a dark color your prefer, helps you see the corners of the walls/
ceiling/floor. You can delete the black layer at the end.
2. Floor:
Add new layer, Selections, load from disk, flood fill, #C0C0C0 (Grey).
Deselect. Name and save your room.
3. Back Wall:
Add new layer, Selections, load from disk, flood fill, #AAB6C8. Deselect.
Save.
4. Patio Door:
Maximize the Patio Door Image. -> Edit, on the drop down menu click on
Copy.
->Edit, on the drop down menu click on Paste as New Layer. -> Mover
tool
(+ with arrows on the ends), place the patio door over the large hole in the
back wall. Save.
5. Windows:
a) Open window image into PSP, Edit, Copy, Edit, Paste as new layer, and move
to left window hole. (Image of window is retained in Copy section)
b) Edit, Paste as new layer, move to right window hole. Deselect. Save.
6. Glass:
a) Set your Foreground color #FFFFFF, Background color #COCOCO.
-> Background Styles -> right small arrow which will open another box
containing
paint brush, Gradient and Pattern, choose Gradient (middle one) -> Edit ->
choose #1 Foreground-Background -> OK.
-> Linear (top right) -> Angle 315 -> Repeats 0 -> Invert box
UNchecked.
b) -> Back wall pink section -> Magic Wand tool -> hold down the Shift
key
-> inside the left window, patio door and right window where the glass is to
be
placed (you should now have marching ants around them) Add new layer, flood
fill with the gradient (right mouse button), Deselect.
c) -> Layers Palette tool (red and blue rectangles), and lower the layer
opacity
(the middle section with 100) by sliding the bar left to 35.
d) -> glasses beside each layer and turn off all layers except the glass
layer,
-> glass layer (to highlight it), close the layer palette.
f) -> Layers -> Merge -> Merge All. Return to layer palette, rename the
layer
(right mouse button, Rename) and name it Glass, and slide this layer below the
windows and patio door layers. Turn all layers back on. Save.
7. Background:
While your layer palette is still open, highlight Background, (black), right
click
mouse, choose delete. Add a new layer and your scenery will go on this
layer.
Your finished and ready to decorate your room. Give yourself a
pat on the back. Good Job!
Note: Everything you add to your room goes on a new layer. Name each layer.
When you have finished decorating your room. Layers, Merge, merge visible
and save as a .jpg file.
